Jimmy Kimmel
Jimmy Kimmel’s famous late-night talk show was suspended for almost a week for the host’s comments about the Charlie Kirk shooting. During his Monday, September 15 episode, Kimmel said, "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it." Two days later, ABC (owned by Disney), declared that it would stop airing “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Consumer pushback eventually led to the restoration of the show on Tuesday, September 23.
H1B-visas
On Friday, September 19, President Trump released a proclamation prohibiting the entry of non-citizens into the United States in H1-B status without the fulfillment of a $10,000 payment by the employer. Later, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) each released a memo for clarification of the proclamation. The purpose of this action is to minimize the threat that H1-B workers pose to “American workers’ wages and labor opportunities”, and to minimize abuses of the H1-B program that poses a “national security threat.”
